Gross floor area: 32.000 sqm
The new premises will be part of the Supreme People’s Court national heritage site, which is located in the city center of Hanoi. The vision for new Supreme Court is to equip Vietnamese’s legal system with a new Supreme Court that meets the demand for modernity but still conjure up the pure essence of solemnity, justical and historical meaning of classical architecture.
The court comprises an eight-storey building with 3 basements, 3 major courtrooms, associated offices and other facilities including a library, a cafeteria a geometric garden space in the back side of the building. The chosen concept focuses on embracing the linearity of the detail to express the continuity of the built environment and a contemporary layer to celebrate the timeless of the culture. Symbolically raised above the building is an open “rotunda” a vista towards the old heritage building. On top of the rotunda is the skylighted court room which hosts the highest judicial organ in Vietnam. The skylight creates a spiritual and spatial connection towards a judging higher being. The project has been performed in association with Coninco JSC.
