A design that incorporates characteristic features of a Norwegian landscape.
The characteristic features of a Norwegian landscape include fjords, cliffs, water and light. This special scenery served as a metaphor for the design of the national museum. The design represents a celebration of a fjord: a large cliff, catching and reflecting the light, rising from the water and surrounded by smaller cliffs. It is the basis for a building of universal design and international significance. Each visitor can feel like a guest in an artificial Norwegian fjord landscape.
