Hans Böckler Street is the main access road to an industrial area in Langenhagen, just north of Hanover. It also provides access and services to the adjacent Brink commercial area and the surrounding residential neighbourhoods. The town of Langenhagen has had the road completely renovated over a length of 750 m, with improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. In the early stages of the project, alternative options for the pedestrian and cycle traffic routing and for parking were investigated. On the east side, the selected solution integrates a protective lane for cyclists with an adjacent footpath, and on the west side, a shared foot and cycle path is separated from the parallel parking strip by a raised kerb. This was deemed to be the best way to meet the various needs of the road users, especially considering their safety. In addition, greenery was planted along the sides of the road, two new bus stops were built, and the entire street area was made barrier-free / wheelchair-accessible.
In order to facilitate traffic throughout the construction period, the work was carried out in various phases and section by section. Inros Lackner was responsible for the traffic-facilities design, the design-stage surveying work, the geotechnical design, the construction supervision and the health and safety coordination. The renovation project was completed at the end of 2022.
