After five years of construction, the new research building for “Supramolecular Functional Architectures at Biointerfaces” at Freie Universität Berlin has been completed. The opening ceremony took place at the end of May 2022 in the presence of Prof. Dr. Günter Ziegler (President of Freie Universität Berlin), Senator Andreas Geisel of the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing, and State Secretary Armaghan Naghipour of the Senate Department for Science, Health, Social Care and Equal Opportunities.
The building, with its floor area of 3,600 m², houses interdisciplinary and highly specialised laboratories, low-vibration and precisely air-conditioned measuring rooms with extremely demanding technical requirements, and offices, meeting rooms and recreation areas. Here, scientists from the fields of biology, chemistry, pharmacy and physics work together on an interdisciplinary basis. Working as part of a joint venture on behalf of the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing, Inros Lackner had responsibility for the structural design and the technical building systems.
