The town of Ribnitz-Damgarten in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, northern Germany is undertaking one of the largest construction projects in its history with the redevelopment of its "Amber School" (or “Bernsteinschule”). “Investing in our youth is our most important duty. The education campus is our town’s biggest investment project ever”, said Mayor Thomas Huth at the ground-breaking ceremony on September 21, 2020.
Inros Lackner SE has been appointed to the role of General Planner for the project, with responsibility for the overall structural, spatial and functional concept. The aim of the new school campus is to bring together all stages of the school system, together with the associated after-school care centre also, in a way that achieves inclusion for all. To this end, the school property will be transformed over the next two years, making it a modern school campus of significance for the whole region. In addition to the construction of a new primary school, the existing primary school will be comprehensively renovated for the “orientation level” at the end of primary school. The playgrounds will also be renewed and a new sports hall with outdoor facilities will be built.
