With a cargo handling capacity of over 95% of the country’s international trade, the port of the city of Dar es Salaam is Tanzania’s most important port. The port has eleven deep water berths, of which four are used for container operations and seven for general cargo operations. The main objective of the project was to analyse the technical, financial and environmental feasibility of the most suitable approach to modernising cargo handling procedures at Berths 1 to 7.
