Suburban rail stations, Bremen
Modernisation and handicapped-accessible development

In the Bremen area of northern Germany, three suburban rail stations were developed to make them handicapped-accessible. Among other measures, the platforms were raised in order to enable passengers to board trains without stepping up or down. New access routes were created, platform equipment was modernised, and orientation aids were introduced for the visually impaired.

  • Planning of proposed track positioning along the reconstructed platforms
  • Removal of existing platform edges and new construction of the platforms
  • Renewal of cable ducting and access chambers
  • Design of platform drainage
  • Equipping of platforms with tactile guidance systems for the visually impaired
  • Design of weather protection shelters
