Global Tech I offshore wind farm, North Sea
80 new wind turbines
The Global Tech I offshore wind farm covers an area of 41 km2, and is located 100 km north of the North Sea island of Juist, within Germany’s exclusive economic zone. On the wind farm, 80 wind turbines of the 5 MW class were erected, with a total output of 400 MW. The average depth of water in the area is 40 m. Steel tripod foundations were provided for the wind turbines, and the transformer platform was placed on a floating, self-righting construction. Inros Lackner provided consultancy services in relation to geotechnical matters, and took on a number of special project management tasks:
- Consultancy services in relation to transport and installation procedures for the foundations and the transformer platform
- Consultancy services in relation to technical and structural design of the transformer platform
- Evaluation of the structural adequacy of the quays and handling platforms and of the logistics and handling concept of the proposed STRABAG fabrication facility in Cuxhaven
- Assessment of the influence of relevant coastal engineering factors on the design, construction and operation of the wind farm
- Navigation and safety of ship transport, consultancy services in relation to particular logistical matters
