In the Hanseatic and university city of Rostock, two new six-storey residential buildings are being constructed in the city’s Südstadt district. These will depart from the dominant style of the existing buildings in this area: "The new buildings will be located among the existing multi-storey buildings, which have a strong urban planning character," explained architect Dr. Haie-Jann Krause, Head of Complex Building Design, in a public presentation in January 2020.
The architectural design evidently impressed the clients, WG-Süd and Schiffahrt-Hafen. The new barrier-free (accessible) building complex will consist of a large residential building with 27 apartments, each between 52 and 100 m2, and a smaller one with 9 apartments, each between 55 and 65 m2. Construction is scheduled to begin in autumn 2020. Inros Lackner is responsible for project design, building physics and external facilities.
