After an EU-wide tender process, Inros Lackner was contracted by Rostock Port GmbH to provide the required planning and design services for the reconstruction of two berths, nos. 31 and 32, at Pier II East. These will be used for general cargo handling and as RoRo quays. The quay edge is designed for a water depth of 12.65 m below sea level and the quay surface for a traffic load of 5000 kg/m². The work to replace the existing quay facilities will be carried out with the help of a mixed sheet pile wall, with anchoring via small, grouted piles.
Preparation work for the installation of the sheet piling commenced in February 2022, and the project, with a total net cost of EUR 22 million, is scheduled for completion in October 2023.
