At the groundbreaking ceremony in mid-August 2020 for this school in northern Germany, Minister Till Backhaus emphasised its importance to the town of Zarrentin am Schaalsee, which has been fighting to get the new school campus for 11 years: “We fought hard together to make this wonderful project a reality. It was a rocky road, but it was worth it”. The seven-hectare site will include a new secondary school, a primary school with an after-school care centre, a two-field sports hall with a cafeteria, and a sports field and outdoor play areas. The whole project is expected to cost approximately 40 million euro.
As specialist General Planner, Inros Lackner is responsible for the technical building systems and the technical outdoor facilities. The foundation stone will be laid in mid-December, the school should open in time for the 2022/2023 school year, and the overall project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
