The Frankenbahn railway connection between Stuttgart and Würzburg in southern Germany is to be improved to meet the current requirements of public transport. Six train stations on the 180-kilometre double-track route are to be modernised – with Inros Lackner, as General Planner, responsible for this aspect of the work.
The station platforms will be raised and lengthened, ensuring barrier-free access. Station equipment and facilities will be renewed, and a navigation system for the blind will be integrated. Two new stations will be built in new locations, each with a pedestrian underpass. The planning and design work started in summer 2020, and completion is scheduled for early 2024.
