In October 2021, the new floating piers for the first solar-electric passenger ferry in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern went into operation, and the regular timetable service between the city harbour and Gehlsdorf in Rostock came into effect in November. The Inros Lackner team was responsible for the planning and design of the accessible-by-all floating piers, including their access bridges, their anchorage dolphins and the electric ferries’ onshore power supply system.
With a travel time of just five minutes, this offers the people of Rostock an attractive new option for local transport, catering for up to 80 people and 15 bicycles.
