A school building with a message
An inspirational learning environment in Greifswald

One of the most modern schools in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has been inaugurated for the 2019/2020 school year. The Erwin Fischer School in Greifswald is the state's new flagship building in the field of sustainable and social construction. Inros Lackner’s project team was responsible for the design of all technical building equipment in the building. Nationally, the new school is a pioneer in the field of inclusion. The comprehensive school is designed with modern classrooms, small group rooms and workshops for individual work as well as free-learning areas, a teaching kitchen, an auditorium and a cafeteria for over 600 students. At the opening ceremony, German Chancellor Angela Merkel was present in her capacity as a representative of the constituency, as were the state’s minister president, Manuela Schwesig, and mayor Stefan Fassbinder.

The façade and the roof of the school building are very well insulated, the windows are triple glazed, and a ventilation system with heat recovery ensures a good indoor climate. Inros Lackner’s services included, among other things, the multimedia equipment of the auditorium and the classrooms, and the installation of presence- and CO2-dependent controlled ventilation zones.
